You may notice that we look a little different…we've had a little bit of a makeover. We have redesigned the site to give you an easier experience accessing the information that you need. This is the first step to good science.

2017 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) Awards

Lindsay Poulos was the recipient of a Third Place Grand Award and $1,000 in the Biomedical and Health Sciences Category for her project on the effects of second hand vapor from e-cigarettes on fruit flies.

James Staman was the recipient of a Fourth Place Grand Award and $500 in the Animal Sciences Category for his project on the effects of blue light on fruit flies.

Devanik Biswas was the recipient of a Special Award of $3,000 from the Drug, Chemical and Associated Technologies Association for his project on the development of a innovative drug delivery system.

2017 International Sustainable World (Engineering Energy Environment) Project (ISWEEEP) Awards

Tara Martin was the recipient of a Second Place Silver Medal and $400 in the Engineering Category for her project on piezoelectricity.

Sneha Reddy and Ann Maris Walton were also recipients of a Second Place Silver Medal and $400 in the Environmental Category for their project on increasing plant growth.

Isaac Zhang was the recipient of an Honorable Mention in the Energy Category for his project on the development of a aluminum-air battery.

State Science Fair

Students from Duval County public and private schools presented their projects at the State Science Fair of Florida March 29–31st in Lakeland, FL. Over 800 students from around the state presented their science projects at the 3–day event, which culminated at the Awards Ceremony. Thirty Duval County students won place awards, special awards, cash prizes and scholarships. Mary Alice Young was the recipient of the Junior Division Grand Award Plaque and a check for $500.
